Sometimes things don’t go as well as we’d hoped. We all hit bad patches in life. It is important to remember that there are people around us to help—and the bad patches are when we should turn to them.
Rule 1 is don’t suffer in silence.
You can find help from a variety of sources, here are the main ones:
Sixth Form Team
We know things can seem pear-shaped once in a while—and we’re here to help. Mrs West, Mr Graham and your form Tutor should be your first ports of call. Just come to our offices, or if you prefer email us:
- Mrs West - s.west@netherthorpe.derbyshire.sch.uk
- Mr Mason - g.mason@netherthorpe.derbyshire.sch.uk
Please remember we do have access to other support not listed on this site
Websites
There is a host of helpful information out there. Unfortunately there is also a lot of unhelpful information.
We recommend the following sources of help:
- Mood Juice - www.moodjuice.scot.nhs.uk
- Childline (Working with up to 19 year olds) - www.childline.org.uk
- Young Minds - https://youngminds.org.uk
The NHS
If you are feeling particularly low or feel you have complex problems we recommend visiting your GP.
A Note for Parents
We know 6th form can be an equally stressful time for parents. The links above are excellent, however please do get in contact directly via the school number or by email on the addresses above.
