Feedback to Questions Raised

Houses – We have 3 houses, Frecheville, Sitwell and De Rodes. When your child receives a place at Netherthorpe you can indicate on the data form that is sent out which of the houses that you would like your child to be placed in. If you have no preference then you can leave that part of the form blank and a house will be chosen for your child. We regularly run house competitions to help promote unity between the year groups and to build a sense of belonging.

School buses – Netherthorpe currently has 6 bus routes that travel to and from school via Brimington, Barlborough, Whitwell, Bolsover, Hasland and New Whittington. Please look at the school website for more detailed information about the routes. Students purchase a half termly bus pass which gives them an allocated place on the bus of their choosing. The pass is paid for using the ParentPay app and the price of routes is calculated in accordance with the distance travelled each day. Financial assistance is available for families who may require it.

Bullying – We have a very strong pastoral team who offer help to students in many different situations. If we are made aware that a student is being bullied then we will follow school guidelines to try to support the student and to prevent further issues. We will sanction students who are not behaving with consideration to others and we will work with parents to try to resolve issues quickly and competently. We consider bullying to be Several Times, On Purpose (STOP).

After school clubs – There are numerous lunch and after school clubs for students to attend ranging from competitive sports teams to craft clubs. Have a look at the ‘Whats On Guide’ on our website for a list of clubs that we usually run.

Lockers – There are lockers in school which students can use if they pay a fee of £5 (including a £3 refundable deposit once the key is returned at the end of use). At the start of the year our finance team send out a letter which provides parents with more information about how to apply for a locker.
