Extracurricular Opportunities at Netherthorpe
At Netherthorpe School, we believe that learning extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. Our vibrant and diverse extracurricular programme plays a vital role in developing well-rounded individuals who are ready to face the future with confidence, curiosity, and creativity.
From performance arts to outdoor expeditions, academic societies to competitive house events, there’s something for everyone at Netherthorpe.
The House System & The Rose Bowl
Our historic house system fosters a strong sense of belonging and friendly competition. Throughout the year, students earn points for their houses through various events and challenges, all aiming to claim the coveted Rose Bowl Trophy. It’s a tradition that builds teamwork, leadership, and school spirit across all year groups.
Debating Society – Over 100 Years of Dialogue
Our Debating Society is one of the oldest in the region, with a proud history spanning more than a century. Students from all key stages engage in thought-provoking discussions, developing public speaking, critical thinking, and persuasive communication skills. It’s an excellent platform for those with an interest in politics, law, or leadership.
