What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the action we take to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm. It is an essential part of the daily life and culture at Netherthorpe School. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children means:
- Protecting children from maltreatment
- Preventing impairment of children’s health or development
- Ensuring children grow up in safe and supportive environments
- Taking action to enable all children to have the best possible outcomes
Our Commitment
At Netherthorpe School, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We are committed to ensuring that:
- All staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities and act in line with statutory guidance
- Appropriate action is taken promptly to protect and support students
- Staff receive regular training to identify, report, and respond to concerns effectively
We aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where students feel confident to speak to trusted adults and where families are supported in accessing the help they need.
