Cashless Bus Payments from September 2026
This letter is to advise you that from September 2026 the school buses will be moving to cashless payments via card through the terminals on the buses. This move is being made for the following reasons:
- Convenience – there will no longer be a requirement to carry cash, once the card system is working.
- Safety and security – there is a reduced risk of cash being lost on the way to school.
- Complete cashless payment solutions – all types of purchases can be made via ParentPay, including trips, lunch money, clubs, prom etc.
- Improved control over student monies – payments made by card will be credited to student accounts immediately and securely and can be seen by both school and parents.
We would advise all parents to ensure that their child has a bank account and card system in place for September, as we phase out the cash-based system in the autumn term. The system accepts the following payment methods:
Whilst we understand that there will be a transition period, we are keen to make this as short as possible.
If you have questions or concerns regarding any aspect of a cashless bus, please do not hesitate to contact the office team via the following email address:

By Car
Parents can drop off students via Ralph Road or Fan Road entrances. Please note:
- Parking directly outside the school is limited and monitored.
- A short-stay drop-off zone is available near the main entrance.
- We advise avoiding drop-offs between 8:20–8:40 AM and 3:00–3:30 PM due to congestion.
- Netherthorpe School is located close to the A619 and is accessible from the M1 via Junction 30.
Sixth Form students with a valid driving licence are permitted to drive to school, provided they follow safe and responsible driving practices at all times. We actively promote road safety and encourage students to explore the guidance and resources available on our Sixth Form Personal Development page.
On Foot
Many students walk to school from Staveley and surrounding areas. There are several safe pedestrian crossings and footpaths leading to the campus.
By Bicycle
Students are able to cycle where safe and appropriate. We provide bike racks at the main entrance. Helmets and lights are strongly advised for all cyclists. The school does not take responsibility for bikes left on site.
