At Netherthorpe School, we are proud to share a rich heritage that dates back to 1572. Founded by four local families -Sitwell family, De Rodes family, Cavendish family and Frechville family decided to establish a school to serve the local people of Staveley. Since then our school has been at the heart of the community for over 400 years, offering exceptional opportunities to generations of students.
Our unique blend of historic architecture and modern facilities creates an inspiring environment where students of all ages can thrive. Guided by our core values — Learn together, Enjoy together, Succeed together — we are committed to making these principles a lived experience for every member of our school community.
To support this vision, we offer:
- High-quality teaching and a broad range of enrichment activities
- Tailored pastoral care to support student wellbeing
- A strong and inclusive student leadership programme
- Opportunities to engage in meaningful charitable work
- A culture of respect and positive relationships
- A warm, welcoming atmosphere for all
Our recent achievements reflect a school that is ambitious, forward-thinking, and on a journey of continuous improvement. We are deeply committed to working in partnership with our families and wider community to become one of the leading schools in the country.
The best way to experience Netherthorpe is to visit us. Whether you are a prospective student, parent, staff member, or community partner, we would be delighted to welcome you and show you what makes our school so special.
